6/14/2025 Letter from Cambria CSD Fire Department
Dear Community Liaison,
Thank you for volunteering your time to support Cambria’s emergency preparedness efforts. Your role in helping connect with neighbors and share key safety information makes a real difference in strengthening our community.
Below is a quick summary of each resource, its purpose and materials you can use when visiting homes and talking with neighbors. Please feel free to adapt them to suit your style — adding a personal touch or simplifying the message is perfectly fine. What’s most important is making a connection and helping everyone be better prepared.
Dear Neighbor Intro & Info Letter
This is a personal, friendly letter you can hand out or use as a script to introduce yourself as a Neighborhood Preparedness Liaison. It explains your role and invites neighbors to stay connected and share optional emergency contact info to help us coordinate during a crisis.
Personal Household Form
This form allows households to privately share useful preparedness details (e.g., if they have pets, use medical equipment, or need evacuation assistance). It also includes sections on utility shutoff locations and emergency contacts. This info stays local and confidential and is used strictly for emergency planning.
Wildfire Action Plan
This comprehensive guide provides practical, easy-to-follow information about preparing for wildfire, including defensible space zones, go-bag essentials, evacuation planning, and home hardening. It's a great educational tool to leave with neighbors or review together during your visit.
Neighborhood Contact List Template
This form allows you to keep track of who you've connected with in your neighborhood. You can note if they have pets, need extra help during an evacuation, or want to be contacted in an emergency. Please use this to organize your outreach efforts and keep communication flowing.
Our collective goal is to make sure every Cambria resident has access to helpful preparedness information and knows where to turn in case of an emergency. Your help in getting that information out is valued and appreciated.
If you have any questions or need printed copies of these materials, please let me know. We’re here to support you in whatever way we can.
Sincerely,
Fire Chief Michael Burkey & General Manager Matthew McElhenie
