9/6/2025 Letter from the General Manager

Dear Cambrians,

I am pleased to share that staff will be bringing forward a request to the CCSD Board of Directors seeking permission to move into the Request for Proposals (RFP) stage for construction of the Cambria Skatepark in the second quarter of 2026. This milestone has been made possible through the dedicated fundraising efforts of Skate Cambria in partnership with the Cambria Community Council, which together successfully reached the targeted funding amount set by the Board of Directors needed to move this project forward.

In addition, staff will also present a request to the CCSD Board of Directors to consider purchasing a new Type 1 fire engine. This critical piece of equipment will strengthen our fire department’s ability to respond effectively to emergencies and enhance community safety. Funding options under review include a financing arrangement or a budget adjustment allowing the purchase to be made directly from the District’s reserves.

Both of these items reflect our continued commitment to investing in Cambria’s future, supporting our youth's recreational opportunities while prioritizing public safety for the entire community.

Stuart Street Tank Project Update

Announcement for new water storage tank construction starting in summer 2025, featuring logos from the EPA and a community service agency.

On September 2, 2025, dewatering and demolition of Tank II began. During this work, you may see water running down Ardath and Richard Streets. This is a normal part of the demolition process and is being managed by the construction team. Before demolition, the District made every effort to conserve and reallocate as much water as possible, but some could not be captured.

For the latest project updates, visit the page below regularly. We’ll post ongoing information, including construction milestones, road closures, and any potential service impacts.

Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade

The Cambria Community Services District is committed to maintaining and improving essential infrastructure to better serve our residents and protect our environment. As part of this commitment, the Wastewater Treatment Plant is currently undergoing a major $12 million upgrade to modernize and enhance its treatment process. These capital improvements are part of the infrastructure projects identified during the Proposition 218 rate increase process and are being funded through those approved rate adjustments.

This critical project includes extensive underground work, tank rehabilitation, and other improvements that are necessary to ensure the long-term reliability and efficiency of the plant. While this work is underway, you may notice an increase in heavy equipment activity and construction-related noise in the area.

We understand that these disruptions can be inconvenient, and we sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding as we move forward with these vital improvements. Once completed, the upgraded facility will provide significant benefits to the community, including improved treatment performance, environmental protection, and regulatory compliance.
