Work is steadily moving forward on the Stuart Street Tank Project. After mobilizing to the site last week, the tank contractor completed layout and crane setup before beginning assembly. By mid-week, crews set and welded the tank floor, and by Thursday afternoon, the full bottom radius of the tank steel was in place. Four large panels (8' × 24') were lifted and secured, with welding continuing through the end of the week.

Looking ahead; weld seams will be inspected early next week to ensure quality and compliance, followed by installation of the second row of tank panels and continued seam welding.

The CCSD sincerely thanks the community for its ongoing patience and understanding as this important project advances. Once complete, the new tank will fortify water reliability and help protect public health and safety for decades to come.

Final construction phase of the foundation for the first Stuart Street water tank is nearing completion. Backfill of the center section within the ring wall foundation was completed and inspected on Thursday, October 23rd.

The project continues with the placement of non-expansive materials to finalize the tank ring wall foundation. Tank erection is scheduled to begin Tuesday, with steel panel installation and assembly. Heavy equipment, including cranes and fabrication machinery, are now on site to support this next phase of work.

On September 26, 2025, the first ring wall concrete foundation was poured. We are currently allowing it to cure before proceeding with additional construction at the site.

The existing ring wall has been fully demolished and removed from the site (see photos of the giant claw excavator in action).

This past week, crews focused on over-excavation and soil compaction to prepare for upcoming concrete work. All compaction tests met or exceeded required standards.

Next week, crews will begin preparing the concrete foundation for the new ring wall.

On September 2, 2025, dewatering and removal of Tank II began. As a result of this activity, you may notice water running down Ardath and Richard Streets. This is expected during the demolition process and is being managed by the construction team.
